Scouting in the UK is organised through The Scout Association. Its purpose is to help young people, aged 6-25 years old, achieve their full physical, intellectual, social and spiritual potential as individuals, as responsible citizens and as members of their local, national and international communities. With 450,000 members in the UK, Scouting is the largest mixed youth organisation in the country. Adult volunteers must follow the policies of The Scout Association, which can be found on the Scouts website: www.scouts.org.uk

Our Scout Group

We meet at Central Methodist Church, Todmorden and have been in existence over 50 years, although we are loosely attached to Central this in no way restricts who we can recruit, we accept all Christian denominations and all religions. We do not attend regular church parades at Central, but we do support the RBL’s remembrance day and Veteran’s day parades. We also actively support Todmorden Gang Show, which has been running nearly as long as the Group.

We try to offer a varied range of activities to the boys and girls in the Group, and in this we are aided by the fact that we have our own minibuses, which we use for camps and trips, and which are available for use by other community groups.
